Just some things that I forgot to write about last time that I thought I should mention. 1) The record for eating toast here is 29 pieces. Kinda random but I thought it was funny. 2) The weather here is weird but great. Its about 60 degrees everyday all day but its also cloudy all day everyday. We occasionally see the sun during the afternoon hours but other then that, all clouds. 3) An elder in my district named Elder Harris absolutely loooves ice cream. He{ll eat like two bites of rice per meal but then like 4 bowls of ice cream. Like i love ice cream, but not that much. Hes such a funny guy though. 4) The traffic-driving is crazy here. Stop signs exist, but no one cares to stop at all. And you merge other lines by just sending it and hoping you dont get hit. Its pretyy scary but always a fun experience. 5) This next one is kinda gross so get ready. The record for days not going number two in the bathroom is 8 days. I dont know how that is possible and who decided to set that record, but wow.
Anyways, another great week at the CCM. Our "investigator" that we taught last time was great. We committed him to be baptised! Although, our new investigator is a lot different. She will be a lot harder to teach and we have to teach her again tonight. During a devotional during the week, I had to say the closing prayer in Spanish. I was pretty nervous, but afterwards, a couple of the teachers came up to me and said that I had great pronunciation and great Spanish. That really helped me a lot, considering my companion is fluent and Im just trying my best to keep up with him. Also, ive finally memorized the first vision, baptismal invitation, and a couple scriptures in both english and spanish. Its a lot of work though! Also, our teachers both told us that they are not going to speak English to us anymore. I mean before, it was llke 75 percent spanish but now were in full force, 100 percent spanish.
For physical activity during the week, obviously ive been playing a lot of soccer. One day, we did Latinos vs Americans which was way fun. i finally got to play with Elder Gardiner, except he was on the other team. Also, the Latinos are amazing at volleyball. Sometimes when im studying outside, and they are playing, I just watch them play because they are so good. One of the kids is supposedly a pro or semi pro, which I completely believe.
Also, we get to go out and proselyte in about two weeks. The advanced guys went out on Saturday and they all came back saying it was great and how they all wanted to leave the CCM. But the advanced guys leave in about a week from today and Im going to miss them a lot. They are a big help and a big motivation to see where I could be with my spanish and gospel in a couple weeks.
Sundays here are amazing. We dont have language or gospel classes and we just get to listen to some amazing talks and feel the spirit. Although, everyone has to prepare a talk each sunday because they call on people at random to give talks each week. Always tense when they start calling names, but I havent been called on yet. This Sunday, we were taught by both President and Sister Moore, and they are honestly amazing. They are so nice and I love being able to listen to them. Later that night on Sunday, we had a member of the seventy, named Carlos A Godoy come speak to us. His talk was so comforting. He addressed pretty much everthing a missionary could be worried or homesick about, and explained why we shouldnt worry at all. We all left that talk feeling a lot better about ourselves and about our decision to serve. We also watched a talk given by Elder Anderson at the provo MTC which was amazing. I saw Ethan Hoj and Josh Vance. That made my day.
Durin g class this week, two locals came in and talked to us about Huancayo. They told us there are a lot of llamas and alpacas which is awesome #Peru. But then they also told us about how much sheep and guinea pig they eat in Huancayo. Yay! But I remember Nate telling me how sheep brain is the grossest thing youll ever eat so im kinda nervous. After that, our teacher, Hermana Jara demonstrated how she teaches. She seriously taught the perfect lesson and I want to be able to teach like her! She could convert anyone! Anyways, we had to teach our new investigator for the first time and it didnt go as well as plan. I told my companion after the lesson that my tongue was twisted the whole time. I just couldnt speak and tell her what I wanted to, but its ok because its practice and were only two weeks in.
Today was Pday and we got to go to the temple again. Although, this weeks session was in Spanish so it made it very very confusing. We also had a service project and were able to spend a lot of time outside which was amazing. At the temple, they have amazing scripture cases that Nate told me to look at. If you want me to send you would let me know, because theyre awesome. Anyways, today was a great week and Im so happy here, dont worry about me!!!
