First of all, I forgot my converter thing to upload photos and don´t want to put my SD card directly into the computer for the risk of a virus. So I am so sorry, but no photos this week. I took a bunch and will have a ton ready for next week.
But this week was great! I´m learning so much and participating more and more each lesson. This week something hilarious happened again. As we were walking in the busier part of town, nearer to Huancayo Central, I saw a guy praying as he was driving. I was like, "why is he praying right now?" As I kept watching, he just drove straight through a red light. He barely made it through and looks like his prayer was answered. I just started laughing and my companion had not seen it so he was wondering what I was laughing about haha.
This week for our District meeting, we had our entire meeting in English. There are only 3 English speakers in my district out of 10, and only me and another Sister were present. So I pretty much had to answer every question and talk super slow because she was the one teaching the lesson and asking the questions. It was super fun and I always enjoy helping the other missionaries learn English. My district is honestly the best. I´m going to miss them with changes coming soon.
This week we found a lot more people to talk to and teach. We found one lady named Angela who was awesome. Turns out she had been taught by some missionaries about a year ago but for some reason they stopped coming. She was so excited when we knocked on her door and immediately let us in. She has family that is interested as well and I could really see their joy. I´m so excited to teach them again, I think tomorrow we do!
We had another lesson this week with an investigator family. Their son is the only member and is less active. We talked to him about his doubts and why he hasn´t been attending and he brought up those questions that many people have; polygamy and other topics that we don´t teach too often. I think we did a good job of talking to him about these topics and we hope to see him again and answer more of his questions. During that lesson, we weren´t able to teach his family members about the Restoration or anything but I think we all learned a lot. They are also an amazing family and the father always calls us to wonder when we are coming. I´m excited to teach them as well.
The last family that I want to talk about is the Iturizaga family. They are actually the best. They´ve been investigating for a while and are always so excited to see us. The other day, we helping them with their house as their are remodeling. After helping, the mother gave us about 3 coconuts and 50 oranges. They are so kind and we hope to commit them to baptism this week. We´ll see how it goes but I´m confident, I think they´re ready.
Yesterday, Sunday, was a weird day. The Peruvian government made everyone in Huancayo stay in their houses all day until around 5 p.m., including us missionaries. They went to every house to count how many people were in each house and to check ID. They were definitely curious about this white kid staying with a Peruvian family but everything was ok.
Overall, another great week besides the rain. I love and miss you all so much!!!!
