Week 11

This week was crazy busy but that´s good haha.  Starting off from last P-day,we played volleyball at a local park with my pension's family and also the sister missionaries.  It started raining and storming pretty bad, but we just kept playing.  We ended up playing in the rain for like 3 hours and also  we gained 3 new investigators through volleyball.  It was super fun.
This week we had divisions.  I was able to spend a day with one of the zone leaders named Elder Cardenas.  He is from Ecuador and is my favorite missionary in the field.  He is so funny and the best teacher.  I felt the spirit so strong while teaching with him and I learned so much.  Not even kidding, he´s the type of missionary that I want to be and is such a big example to me.  Anyways I was able to serve in his area called San Carlos.  I could definitely tell it was the richest part of Huancayo, it had a whole different atmosphere.  And there were no dogs!   Also, the pension for San Carlos is amazing! They had a golden retriever too, that made my day haha.  But I had such a good time on divisions and learned so much!
Then I got a call I think it was Wednesday that I had to travel to Lima for my Peruvian ID.  I had to take that miserable 8 hour bus ride to Lima  and back in the space of 24 hours.  Pretty rough but I got to see some of the guys from my district in the CCM.  I got to see Elder Ririe (the elder missing the same tooth as me) and a couple of the other guys.  That made the trip a lot better.  But yes, I have my Peruvian ID which is so cool!
This Saturday, our zone planned a contacting activity in a local park.  The park was so tiny and we had 5 sets of missionaries all within like 20 feet of each other trying to talk to people haha.  But for our activity, we let people choose a random paper out of a "mystery box".  Each paper had a scripture on it that we would have the person read.  Below the scripture, there were three options as to where that scripture came from.  Two of the three options were always from the Bible, the last always from the BOM.  We would ask the person where they thought this scripture came from and they would always guess the Bible.  However it was always from the BOM:  It was a good way to get talking about the BOM and they were always curious because they loved the scriptures.  Overall, it was a fun and successful activity.
This week we had a district meeting and President Silva came to join. He is so funny and such a good guy, a lot of pressure for the teacher though!  But we also had a district "attack" this week.  Every companionship went to one area for 2 hours and contacted.  We all gained so many investigators for the sisters and it was super fun as well.
For our investigator, Hermana Marta, unfortunately she doesn't want to be baptized for a couple more weeks.  I´m glad she still wants to be baptized but changes are this week and I could be heading somewhere else.  We are so close with a family of four to be baptized and are going to have a family home evening with them to hopefully commit them.  Our appointment with them last week fell through as I was traveling.  Hopefully all goes well.
And yesterday was crazy.  At lunch, we had already finished our food and remembered that we had to eat with a member family.  It was lomo saltado but I could barely finish it.  After two lunches I couldn´t move haha.  But later that night was even more crazy. Late at night, we heard yelling and screaming outside of our apartment.  There were two drunk guys fighting over a girl and one of them actually hit the girl.  My companion and I had to break up the fight and it was so frustrating.  You literally can´t talk to a drunk person, all they want to do is argue.  Anyways, the police eventually came and put them both in the back of a truck, both hand cuffed.  It was crazy and one of those moments where I just missed Holladay Utah haha.  Crazy busy week, sorry if I don´t talk about our investigators too much but its hard to remember all of them.
     Love and miss you all!!!!
